Top Ten Tuesday: Last Books That Gave Me a Book Hangover

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It’s all about love of lists, love of literature and bringing bookish people together.

This week is we’re talking the last ten books that pushed me into a book hangover where they stayed with me for days.

Because it’s the last ten books, some of my ultimate book hangovers aren’t included, they might be on yours though!

Have your read any? Would they have made your list?

Tell me in the comments below!

1. Where the Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens

This book really took me by surprise. I didn’t really know what to expect other than a beautiful landscape.

It shook me up in a good way and I thought about that ending for days!

2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Taylor Jenkins Reid

Evelyn Hugo stuck with me for ages. She was both someone you loved and hated and that combination really had me got.

3. Normal People, Sally Rooney

I’m not even sure how much I liked this book, but book hangover inducing for sure.

This off again on again relationship was both beautiful and toxic and stuck with me long after I finished reading it.

4. The Bronze Horseman, Paullina Simons

I read this quite a while ago, some time last year but I feel like I am still book hungover from it.

Not for the faint hearted!

5. Maybe Someday, Colleen Hoover

This was a reread for me but one I just love and always sticks with me long after I’ve finished it.

6. Ask Again, Yes, Mary Beth Keane

The tragic yet enduring tale of these two families across 40 or so years had be so gripped.

I couldn’t put it down and even when I finished I couldn’t get it out of my head.

One of my favourite books I read in 2019 and one of my favourite romances of all time, The Simple Wild just stuck in my head.

So sweet and yet sad.

    1. That doesn’t surprise me! I don’t think it’s for everyone though, she’s not a very likeable character, which I found interesting but I can easily see how it would put someone off!

Life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy though, especially when there are so many out there waiting to be dived in to!

      1. Maybe that’s it. She wasn’t very likable.

And you’re absolutely right. Life is too short to spend on books we don’t love. ❤️

  1. This is a really great list full of so many books I can’t wait to read 😍 Totally agree with Evelyn Hugo and Normal People and both made my list this week. The Simple Wild had high hangover potential but I pushed on to read more romances to escape it 😂
